Responsibilities
- Bring up Android on new custom hardware from kernel boot through a functioning Android system.
- Develop and customize the Android platform and board support package.
- Configure and maintain the Linux kernel, device tree, boot configuration, and Android device configuration.
- Integrate Android software with custom hardware, including drivers and interfaces for RFID readers, sensors, and other peripherals.
- Develop and integrate Android HALs, native services, system services, and application-facing APIs.
- Configure Android init services, device permissions, SELinux policies, and VINTF manifests.
- Diagnose and debug issues across bootloaders, kernels, drivers, HALs, the Android framework, and applications.
- Optimize boot time, performance, stability, power consumption, and reliability.
- Build, configure, flash, and maintain Android system images.
- Support system validation, production readiness, and compatibility testing.
- Collaborate with hardware, embedded, application, manufacturing, and product engineers.
- Help define platform architecture, development workflows, and engineering practices for a new product.
Requirements
- Professional experience with Android platform development, AOSP, Android BSPs, or Android-based embedded systems.
- Strong knowledge of embedded Linux, including kernel configuration, device trees, and device drivers.
- Experience bringing up software on new hardware or diagnosing board-level hardware/software integration problems.
- Strong C and C++ development skills in embedded or system-level environments.
- Experience with SPI, I²C, UART, USB, and GPIO hardware interfaces.
- A systematic debugging approach and ability to isolate issues across hardware and software layers.
- Experience building, configuring, modifying, and flashing Linux or Android system images.
- Ability to read hardware schematics and component datasheets.
- Clear communication skills and ability to work effectively with engineers from different disciplines.
- Applicants must live in Sweden and hold a valid work permit at the time of application.
