Responsibilities
- Lead technical design and development for high-traffic CX features including home feed, content discovery, premium content experiences, subscriptions, and user growth.
- Drive Android architecture modernization through modularization, MVVM/MVI, Clean Architecture, dependency management, and scalable design patterns.
- Develop strategies for migrating legacy XML-based interfaces to Jetpack Compose and create reusable design system components.
- Optimize app startup time, scroll frame rates, memory usage, stability, and client-side performance monitoring.
- Use Crashlytics and observability tools to monitor stability and proactively detect and respond to incidents.
- Establish engineering standards through code reviews, API design reviews, and technical specification writing.
- Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with Product Owners, Designers, and Backend Engineers on roadmap refinement, A/B testing, and experimentation.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of Android app development experience or equivalent depth of expertise.
- Deep understanding of Kotlin and Android SDK internals, including components, UI toolkit, concurrency, and networking.
- Proficiency with both Jetpack Compose and the legacy XML View system.
- Experience optimizing CPU/GPU performance, memory usage, and startup time for large-scale consumer applications.
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines and automated testing environments using JUnit and Espresso or Kaspresso.
- Preferred experience with Android TV, Leanback, tablets, and foldable devices.
- Preferred media experience including ExoPlayer customization, Widevine DRM, and HLS/DASH streaming.
- Preferred experience migrating from RxJava to Coroutines/Flow or conducting large-scale refactoring.
- Preferred experience with GraphQL and cross-functional technical leadership beyond Android development.
- Ability to collaborate smoothly with other teams using data-driven problem solving and logical thinking.
