Responsibilities
- Take early People products to production and grow them into a suite of standalone products, plugins, and everyday tools.
- Redesign workflows across Workday, Ashby, and other systems, including recruiting and onboarding processes.
- Build APIs and MCP connectors that allow AI tools to safely access context and complete workflows on users’ behalf.
- Design permissioning for confidential People data, including identity, authorization, model access, retention, approvals, and auditability.
- Partner with People Products & Data on instrumentation and AI evaluations.
- Create reusable building blocks that enable People team members to safely build simpler tools.
- Own products across the stack from React and TypeScript through service code and data models.
- Shape ambiguous problems, set technical direction with non-engineering partners, and improve technical standards.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience, including end-to-end ownership from ambiguous problem to production.
- Strong full-stack skills with React and TypeScript plus solid backend engineering experience.
- Experience with or ability to work across Go, PHP, and Python.
- Working knowledge of relational and non-relational data stores such as Postgres and DynamoDB.
- Sound judgment involving sensitive data, authentication, authorization, least-privilege access, auditability, and privacy-aware design.
- Experience building internal tools or business systems and integrating SaaS platforms through their APIs.
- Strong product judgment and ability to determine what to build and what to cut.
- Ability to work autonomously as the primary engineer for a product area and raise the technical bar for colleagues.
