Responsibilities
- Design, develop, troubleshoot, debug, test, and maintain software for new and existing medical device products.
- Architect complex software systems and implement high-quality product features and improvements.
- Identify, diagnose, prioritize, and resolve technical issues and defects.
- Contribute to technical documentation, code reviews, requirements feedback, and test-case reviews.
- Collaborate with Test Engineers on functionality and testing plans.
- Mentor junior engineers and act as a technical leader on the team.
- Partner with management, Product Management, and domain experts to improve team processes, product quality, usability, and efficiency.
- Perform software risk assessments and develop risk mitigations for component, subsystem, and system-level testing.
- Train external teams on product design elements, operation, and proper use.
- Apply and share knowledge of emerging technologies and support departmental best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field with 5–8 years of experience, or a master’s degree with 4–6 years of experience.
- Expert programming skills in C#/.NET or comparable languages such as C++, C, or Java.
- Mastery of software design principles, algorithms, data structures, multithreading, and design patterns.
- Experience architecting complex software systems and resolving difficult technical issues.
- Strong familiarity with developer tooling, version control, build pipelines, and issue and project tracking tools.
- Ability to conduct and participate in thorough code reviews and produce technical documentation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical details to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to own project execution, meet deadlines, and contribute to high-performing teams and process improvements.
- Medical device experience, medical imaging or image processing experience, DICOM/HL7 knowledge, and secure coding or cybersecurity experience are preferred.
