Responsibilities
- Own the design, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support of backend services, RESTful APIs, and cloud components.
- Develop software using C#/.NET or comparable object-oriented technologies and maintain unit, integration, and component-level tests.
- Design integrations with databases, event streams, messaging systems, queues, storage, and other cloud-platform components.
- Investigate complex production issues, participate in L3 support and root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Design for reliability, scalability, performance, security, resiliency, and observability, including meaningful service telemetry.
- Collaborate with product, QA, operations, firmware, mobile, architecture, and other engineering teams.
- Review code and technical designs, mentor less experienced engineers, and provide technical guidance.
- Lead targeted improvements to performance, reliability, maintainability, developer productivity, and technical debt.
- Contribute to planning, risk communication, design documentation, operational procedures, and troubleshooting findings.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience developing and supporting production software, or equivalent demonstrated technical depth.
- Strong hands-on experience with C#/.NET, Java, or a comparable object-oriented language and sound software design principles.
- Experience designing, developing, and supporting production backend services and RESTful APIs.
- Practical experience with a major cloud platform such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
- Experience with asynchronous messaging, event-driven architectures, microservices, or distributed-system patterns.
- Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases, data modeling, and data-access patterns.
- Strong automated-testing, debugging, and troubleshooting skills across application and service boundaries.
- Experience with source control, pull requests, code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, and modern software-development practices.
- Ability to independently deliver moderately complex software from design through deployment and production support.
- Ability to evaluate technical tradeoffs, communicate recommendations, collaborate across disciplines, and support incident investigation and corrective-action planning.
- Preferred experience includes C#/.NET and ASP.NET Core, Azure services, high-throughput or geographically distributed cloud services, connected devices and IoT platforms, Docker, Kubernetes, observability practices, infrastructure as code, and automated cloud deployments.
