Responsibilities
- Bring and work on a personally owned and maintained software project in a Git repository.
- Use an AI coding assistant to build features, fix bugs, refactor code, and improve documentation.
- Review and compare two AI-generated coding responses for usefulness, accuracy, and effectiveness.
- Provide clear, honest, independent written feedback explaining evaluation decisions.
- Use terminal commands and Git during project sessions.
- Follow project privacy guidelines and exclude passwords, API keys, and other people's personal information.
Requirements
- Experienced software developer with a personally and solely owned software project maintained in a Git repository.
- Comfortable with terminal commands and Git.
- Computer running macOS, Linux, or Windows with WSL2.
- Able to review and evaluate AI-generated code and coding suggestions.
- Strong written communication skills and ability to explain decisions clearly and briefly.
- Able to provide independent feedback without using AI to write evaluation responses.
- Project must be eligible, approved by the client's team, and covered by an approved license if open source.
- Selected candidates must sign contributor terms before starting.
Benefits

- Rate of up to $100 per hour.
- Approximately 10–39 hours per week, with workload varying by project needs.
- Payments released weekly as a lump sum for work completed during the previous week.
- AI usage during the project is covered, so candidates do not need to pay for an AI subscription or API usage.
- An active Upwork contract is required before onboarding instructions, platform access, or payment; project-session transcripts will be used to improve AI models and cannot be withdrawn after submission.
