Base Salary
$173k - $255k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, integrate, operate, and provide incident response for bank systems spanning cloud infrastructure, data platforms, durable workflow orchestration, core banking configuration, networking, CI/CD, and the Bank-to-Affirm integration
- Establish code review, design, documentation, and engineering standards for a small team
- Use AI tools and agentic workflows to improve development, design review, runbook generation, and operations
- Own third-party vendor integrations, operations, escalations, and audits
- Partner with Legal, Compliance, Risk, and Internal Audit to build examiner-ready systems and documentation
- Implement monitoring, alerting, runbooks, and operational practices that keep systems reliable, observable, and audit-ready
- Communicate technical strategy, tradeoffs, and constraints to bank executives, Compliance, Risk, and engineers outside the bank
- Mentor peers, provide feedback, and help establish practices as the engineering team grows
Requirements
- 6+ years of software engineering experience with a hands-on track record of end-to-end ownership through launch and operations
- Experience with public cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS, infrastructure-as-code with Terraform, and cloud data platforms such as Snowflake or comparable technologies
- Direct experience working in banking, payments, securities, healthcare, or another externally examined regulated environment
- Experience producing examiner-facing documentation and technical decisions that withstand audit review
- Fluency with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude, Cursor, and Codex, and agentic workflows
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for explaining technical, regulatory, and operational topics to executives and non-engineering stakeholders
- Preferred experience with banks, neobanks, Banking-as-a-Service providers, card issuers or processors, fintech bank subsidiaries, de novo bank launches, greenfield regulated platforms, bank cores, card-processing integrations, or digital banking
- Preferred experience establishing a greenfield cloud organization, IAM model, and data platform under a tight security posture
- Familiarity with FDIC examinations, GLBA, Reg P, BSA/AML, Reg E, Reg DD, Reg Z, model risk, and third-party risk management
