$229k - $284k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own the AI foundation that determines how AI is delivered across Rula’s mental healthcare products and operations.
- Design core AI platforms and durable, production-grade generative AI systems for patient engagement, provider workflows, and clinical operations.
- Set technical standards for AI safety, reliability, performance, and responsible use in a regulated, high-stakes care environment.
- Define system architecture, unblock complex engineering problems, and provide technical direction to engineers across product surfaces.
- Build foundations that scale reliably and withstand technical, regulatory, and clinical scrutiny.
- Help shape the long-term direction of AI within the mental healthcare ecosystem.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 7+ years with public cloud and 5+ years designing and scaling distributed systems.
- 5+ years of deep Python experience and experience with at least one backend language, preferably JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, or Go.
- At least 2 years building AI-powered products at scale with hands-on foundation model experience, including OpenAI, Anthropic, Bedrock, or Gemini.
- At least 2 years of experience with LLM integration patterns, AI orchestration frameworks, or vector databases.
- At least 3 years working with MLOps, data pipelines, evaluation, and observability systems for continuous model improvement.
- Preferred: experience architecting secure and compliant AI solutions in regulated environments such as HIPAA- and GDPR-governed settings.
- Preferred: familiarity with human-in-the-loop systems and clinical decision support frameworks.
- Preferred: experience designing evaluation pipelines for human alignment, factual accuracy, or model interpretability.
- Preferred: contributions to open-source AI frameworks or applied research in NLP, healthcare AI, or generative AI safety.
- Preferred: experience contributing to early-stage team growth from 0 to 1.
- Preferred: experience leading or mentoring engineering teams in AI, ML platform, or applied research domains.
