Base Salary
$75k - $105k/yr
Responsibilities
- Drive architecture, hands-on development, testing, deployment, documentation, and production support across Symfony and Laravel PHP web applications.
- Lead frontend direction using JavaScript, jQuery, and CSS to deliver responsive, accessible, high-performing customer experiences.
- Champion daily AI-assisted development workflows and define effective, responsible team practices, patterns, and guardrails.
- Design and optimize queries and schema interactions for SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and supporting services.
- Set engineering standards through code review, mentorship, testing practices, technical documentation, and technical direction.
- Improve reliability, observability, alerting, and incident response for customer-facing systems.
- Modernize legacy components, reduce technical debt, and deliver long-term efficiency gains.
- Break initiatives into deliverable work, communicate status and dependencies, and partner with Product, QA, and Engineering leadership.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 5+ years of professional software development experience with strong ecommerce or high-traffic web application experience.
- Deep production expertise with PHP and Symfony and/or Laravel.
- Strong JavaScript and CSS skills and understanding of HTTP, browser behavior, performance, and accessibility.
- Strong relational database and SQL knowledge, including query optimization and schema design.
- Experience designing, building, and maintaining production systems with end-to-end ownership.
- Hands-on experience with AI coding tools and mentoring others in their effective use.
- Experience with unit and integration testing, Git workflows, and CI/CD.
- Strong communication, collaboration, mentoring, and technical-influence skills.
- Preferred: experience scaling AI-assisted development workflows, including agents, prompts, tooling, and guardrails.
- Preferred: Python, Flask, Docker, Kubernetes, GCP, AWS, Webpack, Laravel Mix, Composer, npm, Blade, Twig, RabbitMQ, AMQP, structured logging, dashboards, tracing, and legacy-code modernization.
