Base Salary

$160k - $225k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Develop highly reliable autonomous software systems and the simulations needed to validate them.
  • Own software development from design and testing through mission integration.
  • Develop and maintain launch and vehicle software across application, operating system, networking, firmware, and simulation domains.
  • Collaborate with counterpart engineering teams to implement and verify control of the pad, ship, and booster.
  • Define and lead impactful Starship projects.
  • Improve software standards and engineering practices within Starship Software.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, math, or a science discipline plus 4 or more years of software development experience, or 6 or more years of professional software development experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Four or more years of experience with C++, Python, or Rust.
  • Strong C++, Rust, or other systems programming language skills.
  • Experience with real-time embedded systems or distributed computing systems is preferred.
  • Experience designing fault-tolerant software is preferred.
  • Strong debugging, performance optimization, and unit testing skills are preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of computer architecture and networking is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of electronics, controls, fluid systems, motor design, or physical mechanics is preferred.
  • Applicants must meet applicable ITAR eligibility or authorization requirements.
  • Willingness to work long hours and weekends as needed.
