Responsibilities
- Design, implement, verify, deploy, and operationalize real-time services with high-throughput and low-latency requirements.
- Participate in requirements gathering, technical design, estimation, sprint planning, coding, testing, deployment, and on-call support.
- Own, operate, and maintain services in a distributed production environment.
- Develop simple, robust, scalable solutions by collaborating with customers and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Scale a globally distributed voice platform for high availability, reliability, throughput, low latency, and media fidelity.
- Document technical ideas clearly and collaborate with leads, architects, and cross-functional teams.
- Develop novel solutions to customer problems in the Voice channel.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience with large-scale distributed applications using JVM-based technologies.
- Experience building services, designing APIs, and working with event-driven architectures using Kafka or SQS.
- Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure such as AWS, GCP, OpenStack, or Azure.
- Strong Java and computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems.
- Ability to architect, review, and debug code written by oneself, teammates, or AI agents.
- Demonstrated proficiency with AI coding assistants such as Claude, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar tools.
- Ability to critically evaluate AI-generated code for correctness, security, performance, and maintainability.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related engineering field.
- Strong written communication, teamwork, and motivation skills.
- Preferred experience with on-call rotations, incident response, and monitoring or alerting tools such as Prometheus, Datadog, and Grafana.
- Preferred experience scaling SQL or NoSQL data tiers, caching technologies, and production backend systems.
- Preferred knowledge of SIP and Stir/Shaken protocols.
