Responsibilities
- Lead projects or systems and coordinate the activities of other engineers.
- Define the technical tasks and direction that other engineers will follow.
- Design, build, and optimize machine learning platforms, pipelines, and data infrastructure.
- Improve existing structures, processes, and standards for engineering rigor.
- Balance time, quality, complexity, and risk to identify effective technical solutions.
- Collaborate with management and represent PayPal in interactions with partners, customers, and industry organizations.
- Work with data scientists, researchers, and engineers to build machine learning models used across PayPal.
Requirements
- 5+ years of relevant experience and a bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong proficiency in machine learning concepts, algorithms, and techniques, with hands-on experience developing and deploying machine learning models.
- Expertise in Python, Go, or Java and machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and scikit-learn.
- Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP and containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with Jupyter Notebook, Kubeflow, Airflow, Argo, GPU, and HPC environments.
- Experience building ML infrastructure or MLOps platforms and big-data platforms using technologies such as Hadoop, BigQuery, Spark, Hive, and HDFS.
- Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, communication, influencing, and alignment-driving skills.
- Ability to stay current with AI/ML advances and apply them to improve platform capabilities.
