Responsibilities
- Own system design and architecture for the API Platform and Standards squad.
- Create and challenge product and engineering proposals using data-backed design trade-offs.
- Diagnose and resolve complex technical and product issues, including beyond the immediate domain.
- Establish architectural patterns and technical standards adopted by other engineering teams.
- Turn ambiguous technical requirements into concrete execution plans.
- Influence engineering leadership, product, and adjacent squads on technical direction.
- Mentor and upskill engineers beyond the immediate team and contribute to a broader learning culture.
Requirements
- Deep technical expertise in system design and architecture ownership across a squad.
- Experience creating and challenging proposals and making data-backed design trade-offs.
- A track record of resolving complex technical and product problems across domains.
- Experience establishing and driving adoption of architectural patterns and technical standards.
- Ability to turn loosely defined requirements into executable plans and align senior stakeholders.
- Experience mentoring and upskilling engineers across teams.
- Comfort operating in billing or payments environments requiring reliability, security, and auditability.
- Demonstrable customer-focused, working-backwards product development practice.
- A demonstrable record of applying AI or LLMs to deliver customer impact.
- API gateway, API versioning, or developer-experience standards experience at scale is advantageous.
- Billing, payments, financial-services, or global-core/configurable-edge platform experience is advantageous.
