Responsibilities
- Build backend-driven applications and seamless customer experiences for Wise’s Spend products.
- Develop and improve core card onboarding and first-use flows.
- Create tooling that enables Operations teams to support global expansion.
- Design clear, maintainable, performant interfaces and documentation.
- Identify and solve customer problems while coordinating on cross-team technical issues.
- Drive product improvements that benefit customers and internal stakeholders.
- Plan and address technical debt while evaluating development costs.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level developers.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience developing backend-driven applications.
- Strong Java 17+ knowledge and experience with the Spring framework.
- Frontend experience with a JavaScript framework such as React.
- Experience with relational databases, query optimization, and schema design.
- Ability to write testable code and follow best coding practices, code reviews, and continuous delivery practices.
- Strong product mindset, customer focus, data-driven decision-making, and communication skills.
- Preferred experience with financial systems, PostgreSQL advanced types and query features, event-driven architecture, and Groovy.
