Responsibilities
- Design and build complex features in ISA’s native Android application from UI through API integration and local data.
- Own performance, security, reliability, maintainability, observability, and production readiness for squad-owned features and services.
- Lead technical design discussions, write design notes, review code, address technical debt, and maintain engineering quality practices.
- Mentor Associate and Software Engineers on Android practices, application architecture, and mobile engineering.
- Maintain feature flags, deployment hygiene, automated build and test processes, and mobile CI/CD pipelines.
- Participate in on-call rotation, investigate production incidents, and drive root-cause analysis.
- Collaborate with Product, SDET, Design, Operations, DevOps, architects, vendors, and peer squads on requirements, integrations, and dependencies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 6–8 years of software engineering experience with a strong record of native Android delivery and owning applications in production.
- Expert-level proficiency in native Android development using Kotlin, Java where required, the Android SDK, and Jetpack, including Compose, coroutines, and architecture components.
- Strong grounding in unit, instrumentation, UI, and end-to-end testing.
- Ability to diagnose performance, reliability, and security issues across the stack.
- Working knowledge of mobile observability and crash reporting using Firebase Crashlytics, Datadog, or equivalent tools.
- Understanding of secure coding and OWASP Mobile practices.
- Strong experience integrating REST and GraphQL APIs, implementing offline-first data, using Room or SQLite for local persistence, background work, and push notifications.
- Hands-on experience with mobile CI/CD, automated build and test, and Google Play release management.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, collaboration, ownership, and delivery skills, plus proficiency in MS Office.
- Travel, airline, or transactional/e-commerce platform experience is preferred.
