Responsibilities
- Architect, design, and develop modern Mac UI features for customer-facing desktop applications.
- Lead complex UI workflows using Swift, Objective-C, and C/C++.
- Drive technical direction for Mac UI architecture, scalability, maintainability, and performance.
- Own technical decisions across the UI layer, including frameworks, patterns, integrations, and code quality standards.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, backend engineers, platform teams, and QA to deliver intuitive user experiences.
- Review code, conduct design reviews, mentor engineers, and provide technical guidance while remaining hands-on.
- Troubleshoot production issues involving UI, system integration, memory, performance, and stability.
- Advocate for usability, accessibility, responsiveness, and consistency across the Mac experience.
- Improve engineering workflows, release quality, developer productivity, and adoption of effective AI-assisted development tools.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience with a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Extensive hands-on experience in Mac application engineering and shipping customer-facing native Mac desktop products.
- Strong proficiency in Swift, Objective-C, and C/C++.
- Deep understanding of macOS application architecture, UI frameworks, event-driven programming, and system-level behavior.
- Experience designing scalable, maintainable, and performant software systems.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills across UI, application, and platform layers.
- Demonstrated ability to influence technical direction across teams without direct people management responsibility.
- Experience in cross-functional product development and the ability to communicate technical tradeoffs clearly.
- Preferred experience modernizing legacy Mac codebases, working with mixed-language applications, integrating platform services or shared libraries, and supporting automated testing and release engineering.
- Preferred understanding of software quality, security, performance optimization, and observability, plus experience with UX/product collaboration and AI-assisted development tools.
