Responsibilities
- Define the testing strategy across unit, integration, contract, and end-to-end levels.
- Build and own a Playwright and TypeScript automation framework for web front ends and APIs.
- Improve CI feedback speed and reliability and maintain the existing end-to-end test suite.
- Set up realistic and safe test data and environments.
- Introduce performance and load testing for core applications.
- Coach developers through pairing, code review, examples, and quality standards.
- Work with product managers to make acceptance criteria testable and include testing in estimates.
- Track quality measures including escaped defects, change failure rate, suite runtime, and flake rate.
- Establish and document a quality engineering practice and make evidence-based release decisions.
Requirements
- Strong coding skills in TypeScript or JavaScript, with test code held to production-quality standards.
- Deep experience with a modern browser automation framework; Playwright is preferred and Cypress experience is transferable.
- Experience designing test strategy across the testing pyramid for web products and APIs.
- Experience running automated tests in CI with Docker and improving slow or unreliable pipelines; GitHub Actions is preferred.
- Evidence of improving quality through coaching developers, setting standards, or leading a quality practice.
- Preferred experience with contract testing such as Pact in service-based architectures.
- Preferred experience with performance and load testing using k6, Artillery, or similar tools.
- Preferred experience using AI coding assistants, observability data, production signals, visual regression testing, or accessibility testing.
- Experience in a regulated industry such as iGaming, fintech, or health is beneficial.
