Responsibilities
- Drive the architecture, development, and optimization of generative AI applications focused on model evaluation, RAG, and prompt engineering.
- Build end-to-end RAG pipelines covering ingestion, chunking, embeddings, retrieval, and re-ranking.
- Design AI application data storage using Snowflake vector search and PostgreSQL.
- Analyze and prepare data from multiple sources for AI-driven solutions.
- Experiment with OpenAI, Anthropic, and Azure OpenAI models to improve production performance and reliability.
- Establish testing, observability, security, and performance practices for generative AI applications.
- Collaborate with the AI platform team to standardize and scale AI capabilities across BMW Group.
- Support business units in applying AI models to real-world use cases and share generative AI and software engineering expertise.
Requirements
- University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 7 years of professional software engineering experience focused on backend or data-intensive applications.
- Strong Python proficiency and experience building production systems.
- Strong knowledge of software development best practices, including clean code, unit and integration testing, code reviews, and CI/CD.
- Hands-on experience with OpenAI, Anthropic, or Azure OpenAI APIs and orchestration frameworks such as LangGraph.
- Proven experience with RAG architectures, vector databases, and embeddings.
- Experience with data ingestion, preprocessing, ETL, data pipelines, and document processing for LLM applications.
- Experience implementing guardrails, safety checks, and LLM evaluation frameworks.
- Familiarity with MLOps or LLMOps practices for deploying, monitoring, and maintaining AI models and AI-enabled services in production.
- Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and English communication skills.
