Responsibilities
- Lead enterprise solution architecture for legacy modernization across application, integration, data, cloud, security, DevSecOps, observability, and operational supportability concerns.
- Assess monolithic applications, shared databases, batch workflows, reporting platforms, integration dependencies, and operational constraints to define modernization priorities.
- Translate business and non-functional requirements into architecture roadmaps, solution blueprints, service boundaries, data models, deployment views, and implementation guidance.
- Design microservices, API-first, event-driven, containerized, and service-owned database architectures.
- Architect integration solutions using Kafka, IBM MQ, REST APIs, gRPC, FIX, SFTP, schema registries, retries, idempotency, dead-letter handling, and reconciliation patterns.
- Design cloud-native and platform-agnostic solutions using Kubernetes, Docker, OpenShift, AKS, GKE, Azure, and related deployment, networking, identity, and secrets-management patterns.
- Provide Azure architecture guidance for landing zones, compute, networking, identity, security, monitoring, deployment, integration, and migration.
- Define high-availability and disaster-recovery architectures, including failover, backup and restore, cross-region or cross-cloud resilience, and RPO/RTO targets.
- Support phased modernization through strangler patterns, parallel runs, data reconciliation, cutover planning, rollback design, and legacy decommissioning.
- Facilitate solution discussions with business, product, operations, risk, compliance, data, infrastructure, security, DevOps, QA, engineering, and client technology stakeholders.
- Create current-state assessments, target-state blueprints, interface specifications, sequence flows, deployment views, data flow diagrams, decision records, and architecture summaries.
- Work with engineering teams to ensure designs are implementable, testable, observable, secure, migration-ready, and aligned with enterprise standards.
Requirements
- Strong enterprise solution architecture experience in large-scale legacy modernization, application transformation, distributed systems, financial services platforms, or high-volume transaction processing.
- Experience assessing legacy estates involving monolithic applications, tightly coupled integrations, shared databases, batch workflows, reporting platforms, and technology obsolescence risks.
- Deep understanding of microservices, domain-driven design, API design, database-per-service, event-driven architecture, asynchronous messaging, and enterprise integration patterns.
- Hands-on knowledge of Kafka or equivalent event streaming platforms, IBM MQ, REST, gRPC, FIX, SFTP, schema registries, message transformation, replayability, retries, exception handling, and reconciliation.
- Strong experience with Kubernetes, Docker, container orchestration, cloud-native deployment, CI/CD, GitOps, Terraform, secrets management, and DevSecOps practices.
- Working knowledge of Azure and/or GCP cloud services, landing zones, networking, identity, security, observability, resilience, and workload deployment patterns.
- Exposure to Azure App Services, AKS, Azure SQL, SQL Server modernization, Entra ID, Key Vault, Azure Monitor, and secure enterprise deployment practices.
- Strong understanding of .NET, C#, WPF, Microsoft SQL Server, stored procedures, SSIS/SSRS, Azure services, PostgreSQL, Redis, relational modeling, reporting platforms, and legacy application modernization.
- Experience defining migration approaches including strangler patterns, phased cutovers, parallel runs, dual operation, reconciliation, rollback, hyper-care, and legacy decommissioning.
- Experience defining non-functional requirements, performance baselines, availability models, disaster recovery, observability KPIs, operational runbooks, and support models.
- Ability to communicate with business stakeholders, product owners, operations users, engineering teams, senior stakeholders, and client technology teams.
- Financial services, capital markets, trade lifecycle, risk, regulatory reporting, data warehouse modernization, or operational resilience experience is advantageous.
- Preferred certifications include Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect, and TOGAF Enterprise Architecture Practitioner.
