Responsibilities
- Design and build backend services supporting counterfeit detection.
- Identify emerging counterfeiting patterns and develop new detection capabilities.
- Own complex projects from ideation through production, including RFCs and architecture decisions.
- Build reliable, observable, and cost-aware AI- and LLM-based capabilities.
- Collaborate with data and decision scientists to improve detection and models using data-driven decisions.
- Measure shipped systems for accuracy and fairness to legitimate sellers.
- Mentor engineers and raise engineering and agentic development standards.
Requirements
- Proven experience designing, building, and operating production ML- and data-driven backend systems using Go, Ruby, or Python.
- Experience with event-driven systems.
- Understanding of data, machine learning, and LLMs, including model training, evaluation, and retraining.
- Interest in applying AI and LLMs to counterfeit detection and practical production use cases.
- Experience working with data and decision scientists and contributing engineering input to model improvement.
- Ability to own complex and ambiguous problems end to end and drive technical decisions.
- Ability to balance abuse detection with protection of legitimate sellers and explain technical decisions to non-engineers.
- Experience with BigQuery, Vespa, or Temporal is advantageous.
