Responsibilities
- Own the reliability and performance of the Feature Store and meet strict latency SLOs at 400,000+ feature-read requests per second.
- Evaluate and prototype distributed storage technologies as potential replacements for Vespa.
- Build self-service embedding extraction pipelines and abstract compute and serving complexity for internal users.
- Scale and operate dataset discovery, versioning, and drift-monitoring capabilities across hybrid training workflows.
- Lead SLOs, alerting, runbooks, postmortems, incident response, and toil-reduction work for ML Platform services.
- Implement automated data governance supporting GDPR-compliant feature and dataset lifecycles.
- Partner with ML, Data Infrastructure, and Production Engineering teams to establish standards, improve developer experience, and guide platform adoption.
- Participate in the on-call rotation for critical platform services.
Requirements
- Solid understanding of Linux operating systems and distributed systems architecture.
- Experience building and operating internal platforms or high-throughput, low-latency distributed data systems, including NoSQL, key-value stores, Vespa, or Kafka.
- Proven experience with SLOs, observability, incident management, self-service platforms, automation, and reducing developer cognitive load.
- Experience with part of the stated technology stack or comparable tools and platforms.
- Strong programming or scripting skills and interest in building platform services and tooling; Go is a plus, while other languages are welcome.
- Excellent written and spoken English and strong cross-team consulting and communication skills.
- Experience with feature stores, stream processing, workflow orchestration, data drift tooling, or GDPR/data compliance is an advantage.
