Base Salary
$115k - $235k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture and delivery of cloud-scale backend services for OCI’s Web Application Firewall, API Security, and application protection capabilities.
- Design policy management, rule evaluation, threat detection, bot mitigation, traffic inspection, security analytics, and distributed systems that process high volumes of HTTP/HTTPS traffic.
- Drive technical strategy, architecture reviews, design documentation, code quality, reliability, scalability, and operational readiness across engineering teams.
- Establish observability through metrics, logging, tracing, dashboards, alerting, performance monitoring, SLOs/SLAs, runbooks, incident response, and root cause analysis.
- Lead CI/CD, testing framework, deployment automation, Infrastructure-as-Code, and developer productivity initiatives.
- Mentor engineers and influence technical strategy through architectural leadership, design reviews, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- 7–10+ years of experience building production software systems, including large-scale distributed services in cloud or SaaS environments.
- Strong proficiency in one or more of Java, Go, Python, C++, or Rust.
- Deep expertise in distributed systems, scalability, resiliency, concurrency, fault tolerance, service communication, and API design.
- Strong understanding of HTTP/HTTPS, REST APIs, TLS, reverse proxies, caching, load balancing, and web application architectures.
- Experience building customer-facing platform services with demanding availability, performance, and operational requirements.
- Experience with containers, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure-as-Code, automated testing frameworks, observability, and secure software development.
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical initiatives and influence architecture decisions across multiple teams.
- Preferred experience with WAF, API Security, Bot Management, CDN, Edge Computing, OWASP Top 10, rule engines, threat detection, traffic inspection, security analytics, globally distributed services, Zero Trust, identity and access management, compliance, and security tooling.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across engineering, security, product, and operations organizations.
