Responsibilities
- Own and deliver quarterly team goals while leading engineers through ambiguous, open-ended problems.
- Collaborate with product management, design, analytics, European engineering counterparts, and global Servicing Engineering teams throughout the product lifecycle.
- Identify and lead resolution of project, process, technology, and business issues.
- Support operations and availability by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating issues, and participating in keep-the-lights-on and on-call efforts.
- Set and improve code review and design standards and advocate for quality through writing and technical talks.
- Develop team talent through feedback, guidance, and leading by example.
- Build scalable purchase protection, disputes, and refunds capabilities for new international markets.
Requirements
- 4+ years of software engineering experience.
- Experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using technologies such as Python, Kotlin, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
- Experience shipping web applications with declarative UI frameworks such as React or Vue.
- Ability to define technical plans for significant features or system components using elegant, simple, and extensible designs.
- Ability to make significant changes safely in large codebases using appropriate tools and practices.
- Strong ownership of professional growth and proactive feedback-seeking.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with a global engineering team.
