Responsibilities
- Design resilient and secure distributed systems and components for high-throughput, multi-tenant services.
- Provide technical leadership around scalability, resiliency, security, architecture, standards, and engineering excellence.
- Champion the enterprise infrastructure vision and strategy and lead major initiatives, projects, teams, rollouts, and phased releases.
- Develop designs supported by detailed analysis, testing, optimization, metrics, monitoring, and automation.
- Manage server fleets and complex computing systems to improve performance, reliability, and operational efficiency.
- Set team direction and goals for project impact, product quality, and engineering efficiency.
- Mentor and onboard engineers while collaborating with internal services, other engineers, and external customers.
- Participate in an on-call rotation for critical issues and provide timely response and resolution under defined SLAs.
- Comply with confidentiality, HIPAA, regulatory, and company policies.
Requirements
- At least 15 years of experience with Unix management, complex computing platforms, virtualization, distributed systems, and/or high-performance computing.
- Strong architectural, system design, automation, troubleshooting, reliability, and infrastructure operations experience.
- Required experience with Hive, HBase, Sqoop, Ranger, and NiFi; Spark, Phoenix, Spring Batch, Accumulo, Falcon, and Atlas are preferred.
- Experience engineering solutions on a major Hadoop distribution is required, with Java scripting and application support experience strongly desired.
- Experience with virtualization technologies and building scalable, maintainable solutions.
- Experience shipping high-quality work and improving stability through code reviews, testing, rollout practices, monitoring, and proactive changes.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or information technology.
- Ability to manage stressful situations calmly and work effectively with complex technical problems.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States; immigration sponsorship is unavailable.
