Base Salary
$160k - $240k/yr
Responsibilities
- Develop code around Apache Kafka brokers, client libraries, and ecosystem frameworks.
- Design and implement low-latency, high-volume, and highly available distributed systems.
- Develop end-to-end full-stack user experiences for Bloomberg engineers.
- Contribute changes to open-source Kafka ecosystem projects and upstream communities.
- Collaborate with product owners and application teams to understand requirements, conduct feature demos, and provide system design consultations.
- Identify technology gaps and co-design and co-develop features and bug fixes with open-source communities and vendors.
- Write meaningful unit and integration tests and build solutions that work across various environments.
Requirements
- 4+ years of production programming experience in Java, C++, Python, Go, Scala, or a similar language.
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a similar field, or equivalent work experience.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, data structures, algorithms, and system design.
- Experience designing and implementing low-latency, high-volume, and high-availability distributed systems.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Passion for distributed systems and large-scale data systems.
- Familiarity with Apache Kafka, Kubernetes, and Docker.
- Experience maintaining and contributing to large open-source projects.
- Experience evolving and monitoring systems at scale.
- Deep understanding of TCP/IP, Unix networking, and Linux kernel performance.
- Java programming experience is preferred.
