Responsibilities
- Deliver GitLab Professional Services engagements, including installation, migration, training, and advisory services.
- Plan and execute deployments ranging from single-node Omnibus installations to large reference architectures.
- Lead migrations from multiple source systems to GitLab SaaS or self-managed GitLab.
- Partner with Engagement Managers and Project Managers to improve delivery consistency and processes.
- Advise customers by translating goals and constraints into practical implementation plans.
- Collaborate with GitLab product and engineering teams to resolve customer issues and share product feedback.
- Mentor Associate and Intermediate Professional Services Engineers and help remove technical blockers.
- Manage multiple customer engagements as a primary engineer or lead providing oversight to other engineers.
Requirements
- Professional exposure to one or more infrastructure as code or configuration as code technologies such as Terraform, Ansible, Packer, Puppet, or Chef.
- Professional exposure to two or more cloud providers such as Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, or Microsoft Azure.
- Experience using, deploying, or configuring GitLab, including a solid understanding of Git and source control workflows.
- Experience delivering customer-facing installation, migration, training, and advisory services across GitLab’s feature set.
- Ability to independently manage projects and lead or provide direction to Professional Services Engineers on complex engagements.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills for customer collaboration, status updates, and consensus building.
- Ability to identify root causes, propose options and tradeoffs, drive issues to resolution, and balance multiple engagements.
- Ability to work effectively in a fully remote organization through clear written communication, documentation, and asynchronous collaboration.
- Must be located in Japan and have full working rights in Japan.
