Base Salary

$105k - $163k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop scalable, reliable software solutions for Nordstrom’s inventory-management business.
  • Build and support APIs, web applications, services, and interfaces with internal systems, technology teams, and external vendors.
  • Analyze, design, code, test, install, maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance complex software systems.
  • Contribute to continuous integration, continuous delivery, cloud migration, test-driven development, and other software lifecycle improvements.
  • Participate in code reviews, Scrum-team design and development, defect tracking, source control, and software release processes.
  • Drive build and release plans and deploy applications to production environments.
  • Provide production support, participate in rotating 24x7 shifts, and deliver enhancements and bug fixes with business, infrastructure, and security teams.
  • Build system metrics and provide visibility into uptime and performance through alerting, reporting, and dashboards.
  • Assist with software strategy, architecture, design reviews, and applying industry trends to technical solutions.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of professional experience in the practice area.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or related experience.
  • Knowledge of Java and the Spring Boot framework, with familiarity across multiple technology stacks.
  • Experience with relational or NoSQL databases, preferably Oracle, and with RESTful services, JSON, and XML.
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services and familiarity with cloud-native application development.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD and testing tools, Kafka or SQS, and Scrum, Kanban, Lean, or other agile development practices.
  • Experience writing and consuming services using REST, SOAP, XML, JSON, or combinations of these technologies.
  • Strong object-oriented design and application design-pattern knowledge, plus experience analyzing, designing, coding, testing, installing, and maintaining complex software.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tooling and thoughtful use of agents for design, coding, and testing workflows.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, troubleshooting, self-direction, and ability to explain technical information to nontechnical audiences.
  • Experience with Python, JavaScript, or C# is a plus.
  • Experience with Oracle Retail Merchandising Applications, including RMS, RIB, or SIM, is a plus.
