Responsibilities
- Drive significant technology initiatives end to end across multiple layers of architecture.
- Design and implement durable, highly available, scalable, secure web services and software solutions for critical customer problems.
- Capture requirements and use cases and deliver technical designs and implementations.
- Recommend development best practices, tools, technologies, and engineering process improvements.
- Partner with internal and external groups on cross-functional design, solution integration, and onboarding of mobile, SaaS, PaaS, web, and desktop offerings.
- Work with Architecture, Product Management, QA, and Production Operations to develop, test, and release features.
- Resolve complex technical problems and communicate key learnings, industry trends, prototypes, patent proposals, and emerging technology recommendations.
- Provide technical leadership, mentor engineers, and serve as a role model for technical career development.
- Drive results across cross-functional and global teams while communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science or a related area.
- At least 8 years of experience developing systems or software for large business environments using Java and J2EE.
- At least 5 years of experience designing complex distributed systems, management products, or business applications.
- Strong design and coding skills with Java, J2EE, PHP, Ruby, Perl, XML, REST, SOAP, and JSON.
- Strong object-oriented design and service-oriented architecture knowledge, with the ability to implement solutions in a language of choice.
- Strong experience leading the design and implementation of robust, highly scalable web services.
- Strong knowledge of JBoss, Maven, and Spring.
- Experience with software development lifecycle processes; Scrum, Agile, and iterative approaches are a plus.
- Experience with Struts, Spring, Hibernate, JSF, MySQL, and ActiveMQ is a plus.
- Prior experience in utility computing or cloud computing is highly desired.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, mentoring, communication, adaptability, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with global teams across time zones and operate independently in complex technical environments.
