Responsibilities
- Define and drive the architectural vision for large-scale C2 systems that ingest, fuse, and act on diverse sensor data in real time.
- Lead the design and implementation of performant, real-time, numerics-heavy algorithms in Rust and/or C++.
- Partner with research scientists to transition target tracking, state estimation, sensor-effector pairing, and asset scheduling algorithms from prototypes into deployed tactical software.
- Make architectural trade-offs involving performance, modularity, testability, and maintainability for mission-critical edge systems.
- Mentor and technically lead senior engineers while establishing coding standards, review processes, and CI/CD practices.
- Engage with DoD customers and troubleshoot issues involving software, mathematical assumptions, sensor behavior, and networking.
- Contribute to prototyping, modeling and simulation, field testing, deployment, hiring, and technical growth across the C2 organization.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience and a bachelor's degree or equivalent in computer science, applied or computational mathematics, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, controls or dynamical systems, statistics, or a related field.
- Expert-level proficiency in modern C++ and/or Rust, including asynchronous and multithreaded programming such as Tokio for Rust.
- Experience architecting large-scale, production-grade codebases in real-time or high-performance environments and writing performant numerics-heavy software.
- Strong foundation in probability theory, linear algebra, optimization, differential equations, and statistics.
- Experience with CI/CD, unit testing, git version control, and microservices.
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
- A master's or Ph.D. in a technical field is preferred.
- Preferred experience includes target tracking, state estimation, Kalman filters, sensor fusion, signal processing, DoD programs, or GPU/CUDA kernel development.
