Base Salary
$115k - $200k/yr
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the perception system supporting Lodestar’s autonomy software suite.
- Develop, train, evaluate, optimize, and deploy perception algorithms for detecting, classifying, and understanding space targets.
- Build and optimize models for edge computing and develop new perception components.
- Develop and test methods for predicting the relative pose of dynamic space targets.
- Integrate perception models into mission simulations and real-time autonomy pipelines.
- Design sensor models and digital twins to improve perception fidelity in mission scenarios.
- Maintain perception tooling, model-training infrastructure, and evaluation frameworks.
- Collaborate with autonomy, estimation, and mission software teams on perception performance and scalability.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in AI/ML, Computer Science, Robotics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 2-5 years of professional experience in machine learning, robotics, computer vision, or a related field; internships, research placements, and substantial academic or personal projects count.
- Solid Python software engineering skills and working proficiency in C++.
- Foundational deep neural network and machine learning knowledge with hands-on computer vision or image processing experience, such as OpenCV.
- Experience taking an ML model from training through evaluation.
- Understanding of modern perception systems and their architecture.
- Exposure to RADAR, electro-optical, RF, and/or LIDAR sensor measurements.
- Experience developing or deploying ML models to real-time or resource-constrained systems.
- Preferred experience with feature extraction, segmentation, filtering, stereo matching, 3D reconstruction, and target classification.
- Preferred experience optimizing neural networks or geometric algorithms with CUDA kernels, TensorRT, or other GPU acceleration frameworks.
- Preferred exposure to distributed training or cloud-based ML scaling using AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Preferred experience with Linux, Git, containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes, and networking and communication protocols for distributed autonomy systems.
- Must satisfy applicable ITAR eligibility requirements.
