Responsibilities
- Develop and improve new and existing software products by translating backlog items into technical solutions.
- Collaborate with development team members, Product Owners, and Engineering Managers within a dedicated delivery team.
- Participate in sprint events and take a leading role when needed to support successful outcomes.
- Share responsibility for the sprint backlog and delivery success with the wider team.
- Conduct peer code reviews and help maintain broader code quality and coding standards.
- Identify improvement opportunities and agree on actionable improvements.
- Provide best-efforts support for Severity 1 and 2 application incidents between 7am and 10pm local time on local working days, including retrospective feedback.
- Mentor more junior engineers.
Requirements
- Demonstrable experience mentoring more junior engineers.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional qualification or experience.
- Strong hands-on technical skills with PHP, Microsoft Azure, JavaScript or TypeScript, MySQL, PHPUnit, Elasticsearch, Git, XML, and JSON; React experience is preferred.
- Current understanding of technologies and the ability to learn new languages and technologies quickly.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and the complete product lifecycle from inception through delivery.
- Good understanding of software architecture, software issues, design, data, and databases.
- Proven experience working collaboratively to deliver software solutions that meet customer needs.
- Experience with code reviews and coding standards.
- Strong written and verbal communication, attention to detail, and analytical ability.
