Base Salary
$140k - $260k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build core workflow engine primitives for orchestrating agents, tools, and dataflows.
- Own the real-time control plane, including streaming events, reliable job orchestration, idempotency, and replay.
- Design and ship Rust-first backend services and APIs for creating, executing, and supervising graph or DAG workflows.
- Implement blocking, streaming, and fire-and-forget response modes with durable state.
- Improve scheduling, backpressure, timeouts, retries, idempotency, tenant isolation, security, and access patterns.
- Evolve schemas and repositories while owning migrations, indexing, and query performance.
- Instrument the platform with meaningful telemetry and improve testing and operational excellence.
- Partner with product, frontend, and data teams to deliver high-impact features.
Requirements
- Strong portfolio or GitHub demonstrating backend or systems design depth.
- Proficiency in Rust and experience owning production services end-to-end.
- Strong SQL and relational data modeling skills with hands-on PostgreSQL experience.
- Experience with distributed systems patterns such as messaging or streaming, retries, idempotency, and backpressure.
- Familiarity with Redis, SSE or WebSockets, API authentication and authorization, multi-tenancy, and security best practices.
- Experience building or operating workflow engines, schedulers, or agent runtimes.
- Experience with PostgreSQL RLS and data governance at scale.
- Practical exposure to containerization, CI/CD, and cloud environments.
- Experience integrating external AI or model providers and securing provider configurations.
- Experience with Rust 2024, PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka or NATS, containers, modern CI/CD, and real-time client streaming.
- Collaborative, pragmatic, and product-minded approach suited to a fast, in-person environment.
