Responsibilities
- Create new backend services and customer-facing applications for RBC’s digital banking products.
- Build highly scalable, high-performance, maintainable, and reusable services.
- Research new technologies and apply them to current and foreseeable challenges.
- Collaborate within agile product teams made up of technical, product, and business members.
- Support production-level software and use monitoring tools.
- Contribute to team health, coach team members, and champion a diverse and inclusive team culture.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field such as electrical engineering, physics, or mathematics, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least two years of experience writing code in a backend development language such as Java or Node.js.
- At least two years of experience developing distributed cloud applications using technologies such as OpenShift, Docker, or Azure.
- Experience with RESTful APIs and interface specifications including Swagger/OpenAPI.
- Experience with coding standards, code reviews, and source code management.
- Experience supporting production-level software and using monitoring tools such as Splunk and Dynatrace.
- Working knowledge of software design best practices and design patterns.
- Experience in a continuous integration and delivery setting is preferred.
- Experience writing automated unit, functional, or performance tests is preferred.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain technical details to nontechnical stakeholders, are preferred.
