Base Salary
$113k - $176k/yr
Responsibilities
- Perform day-to-day operational tasks on Wikimedia’s public-facing infrastructure.
- Implement and utilize configuration management and deployment tools.
- Lead continuous improvement by automating installation and maintenance of services.
- Collaborate with product teams on scalable functionality and architectural design.
- Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation for incident response and system outages.
- Mentor peers in technical and operational areas of strength.
- Travel 1-2 times a year for in-person events and team meetings.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience in an SRE/Operations/DevOps role.
- Proficiency in shell and scripting languages, primarily Python.
- Experience with distributed caching systems and performance optimization.
- Thorough understanding of TCP/IP, HTTP, TLS, and DNS protocols.
- Strong Linux system-level troubleshooting skills.
- History of automating tasks and identifying process gaps.
- Strong English language skills and ability to work independently in a global team.
- Experience in incident response and post-incident review.
