Responsibilities
- Design, develop, integrate, test, debug, and maintain embedded firmware for Protection & Control products.
- Perform board bring-up, firmware integration, hardware-software validation, and system-level troubleshooting.
- Implement device drivers, middleware, communication stacks, and application-level firmware components.
- Develop communication interfaces using protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART, Ethernet, Modbus, DNP3, and IEC 61850.
- Optimize firmware for performance, memory utilization, power consumption, reliability, and system quality.
- Develop unit tests, integration tests, and system validation activities, including static analysis and code reviews.
- Perform root-cause analysis for field and manufacturing issues and implement corrective actions.
- Participate in firmware architecture reviews, technical feasibility assessments, release management, version control, and configuration management.
- Create and maintain design specifications, test reports, user documentation, and release notes.
- Support manufacturing, customer support, and field service teams with firmware-related troubleshooting.
- Mentor junior engineers, provide technical guidance, and take ownership of assigned projects and deliverables.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Embedded Systems, or a related field.
- Three to five years of industry experience in embedded firmware design, development, testing, debugging, and validation.
- Hands-on experience with 8-, 16-, or 32-bit microcontroller firmware, board bring-up, and troubleshooting.
- Strong Embedded C programming skills; C++ knowledge is an advantage.
- Experience with embedded development environments and toolchains such as STM32CubeIDE, CodeWarrior, Keil MDK, IAR Embedded Workbench, MPLAB X, VS Code, or Code Composer Studio.
- Experience with JTAG, SWD, GDB, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, and embedded debugging utilities.
- Experience with ARM Cortex-M/A architectures and ARM-based SoCs.
- Understanding of I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, RS-485, Ethernet, Modbus, and TCP/IP protocols.
- Experience with PWM, DMA, EEPROM/Flash memory, ADC, DAC, timers, RTC, and GPIO.
- Understanding of RTOS concepts including tasks, scheduling, synchronization, queues, and memory management, with FreeRTOS, ThreadX, Zephyr, or equivalent.
- Ability to read and interpret hardware schematics, datasheets, and technical specifications.
- Experience with firmware integration, system validation, and debugging across the product development lifecycle.
- Familiarity with Git and collaborative development workflows.
- Knowledge of code reviews, static analysis, coding standards, MISRA-C, and unit testing.
- Experience optimizing firmware performance, memory utilization, power consumption, and system reliability.
- Exposure to Embedded Linux development, device drivers, and Linux-based debugging tools is an advantage.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, independence, and ownership skills.
