Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain backend services and data platform components.
- Develop and optimize streaming and batch data workflows.
- Improve reliability and operability through monitoring, alerting, and incident prevention and recovery.
- Improve data quality and consistency through schemas, contracts, and validation mechanisms.
- Diagnose and resolve production issues across service and data layers.
- Drive performance and cost optimization for large-scale workloads.
- Collaborate with product, platform, and data teams to deliver roadmap milestones.
- Mentor engineers and contribute to engineering standards and review practices.
Requirements
- At least 6 years of software engineering experience in backend or data-intensive systems.
- Strong proficiency in Go, Python, and SQL.
- Hands-on experience with distributed data systems such as Kafka, Spark, or Databricks.
- Experience operating services or pipelines in cloud production environments, with GCP preferred.
- Understanding of reliability practices including observability, on-call, and incident response.
- Strong communication and ownership skills, with the ability to drive ambiguous projects to completion.
- Experience with Databricks, Delta Lake, or lakehouse architectures is preferred.
- Experience with Kubernetes/GKE and Terraform or infrastructure-as-code is preferred.
- Experience with data governance, identity/profile systems, FinOps, or Spark ecosystem optimization is preferred.
- Scala or Java experience is a plus.
- Fluency in English is required.
