Responsibilities
- Define long-term technical vision and architectural direction for a major platform area.
- Solve complex, ambiguous problems spanning multiple teams and domains.
- Set technical standards and best practices for quality, scalability, and maintainability.
- Lead critical strategic initiatives, including planning, coordination, roadmaps, milestones, and risk mitigation.
- Mentor Staff Engineers and senior technical leaders and raise engineering standards.
- Drive unassigned technical initiatives that materially improve outcomes.
- Build alignment across teams and communicate technical vision to senior stakeholders.
- Write design, strategy, and architecture decision documents adopted across teams.
- Represent technology strategy to executives, customers, and partners when needed.
- Connect technical investments and trade-offs to product strategy and business outcomes.
Requirements
- Proven ability to establish long-term technical vision and guide architecture across multiple teams or domains.
- Track record of delivering high-stakes, ambiguous initiatives and identifying and mitigating risks.
- Demonstrated influence beyond a single team, including mentoring senior engineers and raising standards at scale.
- Exceptional communication skills with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong product and business acumen, including the ability to connect technical direction to business strategy and industry trends.
