Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture, design, development, and maintenance of scalable software tools, backend services, APIs, and platform applications.
- Define long-term technical vision for engineering productivity, automation, and platform modernization.
- Develop backend systems, workflow automation frameworks, reporting platforms, and engineering dashboards.
- Design integrations across internal platforms, databases, cloud services, and external systems.
- Lead technical reviews, architecture discussions, proof-of-concept evaluations, and technology selection.
- Improve software quality, observability, performance, security, testing, deployment, and operational reliability.
- Mentor engineers and technical leaders through coaching, design reviews, and knowledge sharing.
- Lead cross-functional technical initiatives across geographically distributed teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, with alternative master's or PhD pathways.
- At least 12 years of professional software development experience, with significant backend, platform engineering, and tools development experience.
- At least 8 years designing and delivering large-scale software applications, developer tools, or enterprise platforms.
- At least 8 years of hands-on experience with backend technologies such as Java, C#, .NET, ASP.NET Core, Spring Boot, or comparable frameworks.
- At least 8 years working with relational databases, data modeling, query optimization, and scalable data architectures.
- Strong expertise in distributed systems and enterprise software architecture.
- Experience leading complex technical initiatives, influencing technical direction, and aligning multiple teams and stakeholders.
- Preferred qualifications include 15+ years of software engineering experience, 10+ years building productivity tools or developer-facing platforms, and 5+ years of technical leadership.
- Preferred experience includes distributed systems, cloud-native applications, Docker, Kubernetes, Azure, AWS, GCP, and large globally distributed engineering organizations.
- An alternate qualification lists a bachelor's degree with 6+ years, master's degree with 5+ years, or PhD with 4+ years of related software engineering experience, plus 3+ years with programming languages such as C, C++, Java, or Python.
