Responsibilities
- Design and build scalable Tier-1 services for order planning, fulfilment optimization, inventory allocation, and network cost management.
- Own architecture for distributed systems involving gRPC service meshes, Kafka pipelines, CPLEX solvers, Redis and S3-backed caching, and multi-region deployments.
- Write and review production Kotlin and Java code for correctness, performance, and operational safety.
- Lead design and code reviews for latency-sensitive order flows with sub-second solver deadlines and P99 monitoring.
- Drive reliability through circuit breakers, retries, graceful degradation, observability, capacity planning, and incident prevention.
- Partner with Product, Data Science, and Operations on fulfilment optimization initiatives and solver model improvements.
- Mentor engineers and establish reusable technical mechanisms such as pipeline patterns, adapter abstractions, and feature-flag discipline.
Requirements
- Proven experience designing and operating high-scale distributed systems with strict latency and reliability requirements.
- Excellent hands-on coding ability in Kotlin or Java for backend systems at scale.
- Deep understanding of API design, concurrency, data modeling, caching, messaging, and service-to-service communication.
- Strong code review skills and the ability to identify correctness, performance, and reliability issues in complex codebases.
- Experience with production systems handling high QPS, large data volumes, or Tier-1 SLAs.
- Experience with Kafka-based event-driven architectures at scale.
- Experience with multi-region systems, region-specific routing, data isolation, and cross-border fulfilment.
- Experience with resilience engineering, including circuit breakers, retry strategies, load testing, capacity planning, and graceful degradation.
- Track record of technical leadership, architecture direction, cross-team alignment, and mentoring senior engineers.
- Preferred experience in ecommerce, fulfilment, supply chain, logistics, inventory, order management, or planning systems.
- Preferred experience with CPLEX, OR-Tools, decision engines, constraint programming, or data-science-integrated production systems.
- Preferred experience with AI-assisted coding agents such as Cursor, Copilot, Devin, or Claude Code.
- Preferred experience with Spec-Driven Development, OpenAPI/Swagger, Protocol Buffers, API-first design, or contract-first development.
