Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate Python/FastAPI backend services and APIs for GenAI Platform capabilities including RAG managers, data planes, and vector store services.
- Develop clean, maintainable, well-tested code and participate in code reviews, CI/CD, automated testing, monitoring, alerting, and applicable on-call rotations.
- Integrate internal and external LLM providers, Elasticsearch-based vector stores, and Aurora PostgreSQL for scalable RAG and retrieval workflows.
- Evolve platform guardrails and safety features including authentication, API key management, workload-to-workload authentication, evaluation hooks, and observability.
- Partner with staff and principal engineers, product managers, applied scientists, and other engineering teams to shape platform architecture and deliver production-ready capabilities.
- Create and maintain design documents, runbooks, implementation guides, and how-to documentation for platform adopters.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent related professional experience.
- 8+ years of relevant professional experience building and operating backend services and APIs with end-to-end ownership.
- Proficiency in Python and experience developing production-grade web services using FastAPI or similar modern frameworks.
- Strong understanding of system design, API design, and data modeling.
- Experience operating backend APIs in public or hybrid cloud environments, preferably AWS, and exposure to at least one relational, NoSQL, or search data store.
- Familiarity with AI-driven systems, LLM-powered capabilities, embeddings, RAG patterns, or the ability to quickly learn internal GenAI Platform tools.
- Preferred: experience with high-scale AWS backend APIs, performance tuning, resilience patterns, multi-tenant services, RAG and vector-store tooling, evaluation and observability frameworks, LLM integration, platform guardrails, internal platforms or SDKs, and workflow or multi-agent orchestration tools.
