Responsibilities

  • Develop AI, machine learning, and optimization solutions for industrial and operational use cases.
  • Build AI-enabled applications using large language models, foundation models, multimodal approaches, data pipelines, prompts, agents, evaluations, optimization logic, and user feedback.
  • Design knowledge graphs, ontologies, and structured domain knowledge linking process, experimental, document, asset, material, and business data.
  • Develop robust pipelines for time-series, laboratory, manufacturing, document, scientific, and technical data.
  • Collaborate with domain experts and cross-functional teams to deliver explainable, maintainable, and adoptable solutions.
  • Contribute to model validation, monitoring, documentation, governance, and continuous improvement in production environments.
  • Travel regularly for project and deployment work, potentially up to approximately 35% annually.

Requirements

  • Master's or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Bioinformatics, Process Control, Computer Science, Data Science, or Applied Mathematics.
  • Demonstrated industrial experience delivering measurable business impact in production or operational environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Python and modern machine learning workflows, including preparation, modeling, validation, deployment, and monitoring.
  • Experience developing and deploying end-to-end AI or machine learning applications beyond exploratory notebooks.
  • Practical knowledge of prompt design, agentic AI, retrieval-augmented generation, evaluation, hallucination reduction, and human-in-the-loop workflows.
  • Experience with structured and unstructured data, including time-series, scientific, engineering, document, knowledge-base, or operational data.
  • Knowledge of optimization, process control, forecasting, anomaly detection, recommendation systems, natural language interfaces, classification, deep learning, or predictive analytics.
  • Familiarity with version control, testing, application programming interfaces, containers, continuous integration and continuous delivery, and maintainable code design.
  • Ability to explain model outputs, uncertainty, assumptions, control logic, optimization trade-offs, and practical implications to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Preferred experience with knowledge graphs, ontologies, semantic modeling, graph databases, retrieval-augmented generation, industrial operations, manufacturing, biomanufacturing, bioinformatics, chemical processes, advanced process control, mathematical optimization, model registries, experiment tracking, observability, prompt and version management, evaluation frameworks, cloud platforms, or production machine learning systems.
