Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate scalable production APIs used across CoverMyMeds.
- Develop and maintain backend services using TypeScript, Node.js, and Python.
- Build and support Kafka-based event-driven integrations and services.
- Design and maintain relational database schemas using PostgreSQL.
- Develop infrastructure as code with Terraform and enhance CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions.
- Build migration tools and help teams adopt shared platform capabilities.
- Troubleshoot production issues and participate in an on-call rotation.
- Review technical feasibility and solution designs, establish API and event-design standards, and provide architectural guidance.
- Mentor engineers through code reviews, technical discussions, and collaborative problem solving.
- Improve engineering quality, maintainability, reliability, scalability, and development workflows.
- Use AI-assisted development tools and validate AI-generated solutions with sound engineering judgment.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 5 years of professional software development experience; the posting also states that the role typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience.
- Experience designing, building, and operating production APIs.
- Experience with TypeScript/Node.js, Python, Kafka or similar event-streaming platforms, PostgreSQL or similar relational databases, Terraform or comparable infrastructure-as-code tooling, and modern CI/CD platforms such as GitHub Actions.
- Experience supporting production systems, resolving operational issues, participating in technical design discussions, and conducting code reviews.
- Strong API design knowledge, including versioning and backward compatibility, plus strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, and technical evaluation skills.
- Preferred qualifications include Azure services such as API Management and Service Bus, Helm, Kubernetes, Ruby on Rails, Elixir, SOX or ITGC environments, platform services, mentoring, cross-team technical influence, and AI-assisted development tools such as Claude.
