Base Salary
$218k - $291k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build, prototype, and productionize conversational search and natural-language query understanding solutions.
- Update search capabilities across query understanding, retrieval, ranking, and response-generation layers.
- Develop intent understanding, query rewriting, semantic retrieval, result grounding, and multi-turn refinement methods.
- Partner with science and engineering teams to integrate data-informed approaches into scalable production systems.
- Build and evaluate offline and online frameworks for conversational quality, retrieval efficiency, relevance, and customer impact.
- Contribute to model selection, system development, experimentation, code reviews, and technical direction across partner teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical area, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- 8+ years of experience in applied research, machine learning, search, NLP, or related engineering roles.
- Strong hands-on experience building and shipping production-quality ML, NLP, or search systems.
- Deep expertise in dialogue-based search, information retrieval, NLP, intent understanding, semantic parsing, query reformulation, LLM applications, ranking, retrieval, embeddings, or relevance optimization.
- Strong coding and system-development skills, including the ability to drive complex work from concept through production.
- Ability to evaluate tradeoffs involving quality, latency, scalability, and maintainability.
- Preferred qualifications include an advanced degree, experience modernizing search or discovery systems, experience with natural-language query or conversational platforms, and a record of translating research into product impact.
