
Senior Software Engineer - Java, AVP
State StreetResponsibilities
- Design and deliver complex enterprise platforms, software enhancements, frameworks, and technical solutions into production.
- Analyze, develop, test, debug, and implement software using Java, C#, SQL, JavaScript, and related technologies.
- Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance for product solutions and major project phases.
- Collaborate with Business Analysts, Product Managers, team leaders, and cross-functional teams to solve complex business and technical problems.
- Conduct code reviews, write unit and automation tests, perform manual testing, and improve testing methodologies.
- Troubleshoot large, mission-critical client implementations and resolve advanced software technical issues.
- Create design, API, and customer documentation and participate in the Agile development process.
- Plan and coordinate cross-team activities to complete assignments.
Requirements
- A BS degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or another technical field is required; an MS degree is strongly preferred.
- At least 12 years of progressively responsible professional software engineering experience is required.
- At least 3 years of experience working with an Agile development methodology is required.
- Experience with Spring Boot, microservices, and deployment of services in cloud environments is required or strongly expected.
- Experience with Kubernetes, Kafka and message-based systems, cloud-native services, relational databases, and high-performance multi-tier applications is required or strongly preferred.
- Azure experience is a bonus, while Snowflake and PostgreSQL experience are preferred or strong assets.
- Authoritative experience with object-oriented programming, compiler or interpreter technologies, embedded systems, operating systems, relational databases, scripting, and advanced programming languages is expected.
- At least 5 years of financial-services software experience in areas such as portfolio management, trading, compliance, post-trade, IBOR, or wealth management is strongly desired.
- Candidates should demonstrate complex problem-solving, software architecture and design ability, strong written and verbal communication, and effective collaboration skills.
