Base Salary
$114k - $180k/yr
Responsibilities
- Define, architect, and develop core systems and client infrastructure in Unity and C#.
- Diagnose and resolve game-wide issues involving load times, frame rates, memory pressure, build stability, and runtime stability.
- Evaluate, upgrade, integrate, and maintain third-party libraries, SDKs, and engine dependencies.
- Design foundational architecture changes that enable future feature development.
- Create technical design documentation, implementation plans, estimates, assumptions, and risk assessments.
- Profile, optimize, and refactor code to meet performance and stability goals.
- Lead multi-week or month-long infrastructure and tooling initiatives with other engineers.
- Review code and technical documentation, give technical talks, improve engineering standards, and mentor engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent education/work experience.
- 6+ years of game industry or mobile app experience as a software developer.
- Experience shipping titles or working on live games, especially mobile iOS or Android games.
- Expert knowledge of C# and 3+ years of Unity experience, including engine-level and low-level systems work.
- Understanding of client/server and server-side architecture in modern mobile games.
- Experience diagnosing performance issues and maintaining third-party libraries, SDKs, or engine versions.
- Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, back-end monitoring technologies such as Datadog, Git, and performance profiling and optimization tools.
- Strong communication, collaboration, distributed-work, technical-risk, and blocker-resolution abilities.
- Bonus qualifications include Unity engine source modification or custom engine forks, game build pipelines or developer tooling, casual-game experience, and Claude Code or a similar AI coding tool.
