Senior Software Engineer, Backend

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with design, product, web/backend and native mobile engineers to refine and develop features.
- Build systems using Go, TypeScript, Node.js/Express and GraphQL while maintaining high-quality code.
- Participate in technical discussions and contribute to product, system architecture and team-process decisions.
- Work across the technology stack and learn new skills.
- Provide production support through limited on-call rotations for built systems and tools.
- Lead projects, contribute to documentation and norms, and mentor engineers through reviews, pairing and technical discussions.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience building and optimizing scalable backend and API-driven services for web and mobile applications.
- At least 5 years of experience developing backend systems with modern languages such as Go and TypeScript/Node.js.
- At least 5 years of experience with SQL databases such as PostgreSQL, including data modeling and query performance optimization, plus familiarity with NoSQL technologies such as DynamoDB.
- At least 3 years of experience building and operating cloud infrastructure on AWS or GCP, including Docker, Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, managed databases, networking and storage services.
- Proficiency with CI/CD, automated testing, observability, monitoring and feature flag deployments.
- Experience leading projects through the full software development lifecycle, collaborating with stakeholders and mentoring engineers.
- Preferred experience with GraphQL federation, scalable subgraphs, distributed architectures, system design and cross-functional product development.

- Core working hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET.
- Limited on-call hours with a schedule determined after joining.
