Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Engineering Managers, Product Managers, Product Designers, and engineers to understand problems and design solutions.
- Produce high-quality, well-structured code supporting more than 1 million daily active users.
- Work daily with engineers in a cross-functional environment to solve problems and write code.
- Participate in continuous-improvement activities including blameless post-mortems, architecture reviews, and engineering guild sessions.
- Contribute across backend and data work using Scala, TypeScript, and Python.
Requirements
- Software engineering experience and strong evidence of the ability to learn the Scala stack effectively.
- Experience writing high-quality code in TypeScript, Scala, Java, Kotlin, or another JVM language.
- Experience with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL, and NoSQL datastores such as DynamoDB.
- Experience building scalable web applications.
- Proficiency in testing solutions at unit and integration levels.
- Ability to find and solve complex problems independently while seeking guidance when appropriate.
- Strong technical and non-technical communication skills.
- A product-oriented mindset focused on solving business problems rather than over-engineering.
- Experience with iterative development using A/B testing.
- Preferred experience includes payment SDKs such as Stripe or PayPal, marketplace or fintech environments, Play Framework, eCommerce, event-driven architectures using Kafka, AWS infrastructure with Terraform, Python, and data engineering.
- Genuine curiosity about AI and willingness to explore how it can improve day-to-day work.
