Responsibilities
- Design, write, and deploy backend features and scalable APIs using Python and Django REST Framework.
- Collaborate with the Integrations team on API design, Kubernetes infrastructure, and automated system configuration.
- Lead architectural decisions and scalability improvements for the Django-based monolith.
- Use logging, data, and observability tools to resolve performance bottlenecks and manage technical debt.
- Conduct code reviews and help develop AI-assisted engineering workflows using tools such as Claude.
- Draft RFCs, promote engineering best practices, and mentor other engineers.
- Own major backend feature initiatives and help scale systems to handle four times the data volume.
Requirements
- Production experience building and scaling backend systems with Python and Django or Django REST Framework.
- Strong experience designing stable APIs and working with relational databases, specifically PostgreSQL.
- Practical Kubernetes experience or the ability to learn Kubernetes quickly.
- A proactive, ownership-driven approach and the ability to collaborate across global teams.
- Experience with or strong curiosity about using generative AI tools such as Claude for coding and code review.
- Strong system design or prior architectural experience is highly valued.
