Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and operate software systems that power automated laboratories.
  • Develop laboratory workflow orchestration, LIMS, quality decision, and laboratory visibility systems.
  • Build resilient distributed systems that interact with physical laboratory equipment and support software-only disaster recovery.
  • Improve reliability, scalability, regulatory compliance, operational simplicity, and laboratory throughput.
  • Collaborate with laboratory operators, scientists, automation engineers, and software engineers to understand workflows and deliver practical solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership, shape architectural direction, lead significant initiatives, and influence the evolution of the laboratory platform.
  • Own production systems, anticipate operational risks, and participate in on-call support and incident response.

Requirements

  • Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience designing and operating distributed systems.
  • Production software development experience with one or more modern programming languages such as Python or Go.
  • Experience with modern frontend development using React and TypeScript.
  • Experience developing cloud-native applications on AWS.
  • Experience building APIs and distributed services using technologies such as REST and/or gRPC.
  • Experience with Kubernetes and cloud-native deployment practices.
  • Strong understanding of software quality, testing, observability, and operational ownership.
  • Experience with observability tooling such as Prometheus, Grafana, and structured logging.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Curiosity about biology, laboratory operations, and complex real-world systems is ideal.
