Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate software systems that power automated laboratories.
- Develop laboratory workflow orchestration, LIMS, quality decision, and laboratory visibility systems.
- Build resilient distributed systems that interact with physical laboratory equipment and support software-only disaster recovery.
- Improve reliability, scalability, regulatory compliance, operational simplicity, and laboratory throughput.
- Collaborate with laboratory operators, scientists, automation engineers, and software engineers to understand workflows and deliver practical solutions.
- Provide technical leadership, shape architectural direction, lead significant initiatives, and influence the evolution of the laboratory platform.
- Own production systems, anticipate operational risks, and participate in on-call support and incident response.
Requirements
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience designing and operating distributed systems.
- Production software development experience with one or more modern programming languages such as Python or Go.
- Experience with modern frontend development using React and TypeScript.
- Experience developing cloud-native applications on AWS.
- Experience building APIs and distributed services using technologies such as REST and/or gRPC.
- Experience with Kubernetes and cloud-native deployment practices.
- Strong understanding of software quality, testing, observability, and operational ownership.
- Experience with observability tooling such as Prometheus, Grafana, and structured logging.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Curiosity about biology, laboratory operations, and complex real-world systems is ideal.
