Base Salary

$174k - $267k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and operate large-scale cloud infrastructure and highly available customer-facing production services.
  • Participate in a global on-call rotation, lead incident response, and drive post-incident systemic improvements.
  • Define and improve SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, availability, scalability, performance, and resilience.
  • Ensure infrastructure and operational practices meet FedRAMP compliance and security requirements with continuous audit readiness.
  • Build software, automation, infrastructure, self-service platforms, operational guardrails, and developer tooling using Go, Python, Terraform, and related technologies.
  • Improve observability through metrics, logging, tracing, dashboards, and alerting.
  • Lead complex reliability initiatives across multiple engineering teams and guide adoption of operational best practices.
  • Mentor engineers, influence architecture and technical standards, and drive projects through rollout and long-term operational ownership.
  • Explore AI-assisted engineering and operational automation to reduce toil and improve productivity.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience architecting and leading large-scale production services in AWS and/or GCP.
  • Deep expertise with Kubernetes patterns, Linux-based production systems, multi-region cloud architectures, and Kubernetes networking, storage, scheduling, scaling, and workload lifecycle issues.
  • Extensive experience with infrastructure-as-code technologies such as Terraform and Helm.
  • Strong software engineering skills in Golang and/or Python, plus experience building automation and internal engineering platforms.
  • Experience operating and troubleshooting distributed data platforms such as PostgreSQL, Redis, OpenSearch, MySQL, Cassandra, or similar technologies.
  • Strong understanding of cloud networking, observability frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, deployment strategies, reliability engineering, capacity planning, and automation-first operations.
  • Experience leading incident response and improving customer-facing production systems subject to SLAs.
  • Understanding of cloud security fundamentals, IAM, secrets management, secure infrastructure design, and regulated environments.
  • Demonstrated success leading complex initiatives across multiple teams and influencing technical direction in globally distributed organizations.
  • US Person status, defined as a US Citizen or Green Card Holder, and residence on US soil are required for FedRAMP project eligibility.
  • Preferred qualifications include experience with FedRAMP, SOC2, HIPAA, SaaS platforms, Kubernetes-based microservices, globally distributed production environments, GitOps, ArgoCD, and AI-assisted operational tooling.

Benefits

  • Annual base salary ranges from $194,000—$267,000 in the San Francisco Bay Area and $174,000—$239,000 in specified other states, excluding equity and bonus.
